Water Sports

With the clear, warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico and beautiful white-sand beaches, Mexico Beach is a paradise for water sports of all kinds. Whether your favorite is Swimming, Boating, Jet Skiing, Parasailing, Paddle Boarding, Kayaking, or Kiteboarding your outdoor water adventure awaits!

In the late summer, the emergence of loggerhead turtle hatchlings takes place. Throughout the entire year, dolphins gracefully plunge through the waves, often forming pods that engage in playful antics and feeding rituals within our nearby waters. Flourishing within this environment, you’ll also encounter sea turtles, urchins, starfish, crabs, and sand dollars. As you embark on your water sports adventure, be prepared to catch glimpses of these captivating sea creatures curiously observing your activities.

Paddling

One of the best ways to experience Mexico Beach and its surrounding areas is from sea level. Whether you paddle a kayak, a canoe, or a stand-up paddleboard, you’ll experience wild Florida in an intimate and personal way as you glide quietly through its rivers, canals, lakes, and bays. Several outfitter and guide services provide both rentals and guided ecotours led by experienced naturalists. Nearby Wakulla Springs State Park is a favorite, featuring the longest and deepest known submerged cave system in the world. And, for a truly primordial experience, try a paddle through the Dead Lakes.

Swimming

It’s only natural for swimmers to want to dive headfirst into the shimmering Gulf! Get a full-body workout as you take a swim to the nearest sand bar and back, then sun yourself on the warm sand and relax on the beach.

Swimming Safety

The City of Mexico Beach does not operate a warning flag system or utilize lifeguards as riptides are not common in our waters. We do, however, urge all beachgoers to follow good safety practices when enjoying our beaches. Do not enter the water alone, and do not allow children to enter the water without adult supervision.

Parasailing

See Mexico Beach from the sky! Parasailing is a sure-fire way to get a new perspective on the world as licensed professionals take you on a trip to get the birds-eye view. Look for the Mexico Beach canal and all your favorite spots as you cruise through the air underneath a colorful parachute.
